publication platform | two bright lights

6/06/2013

I am super excited to finally be looking at Two Bright Lights. Two Bright Lights is a photography blog submission assistant, if you will. It is a place where you can submit to the most well-known publication blogs such as Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, Ruffled, The Knotty Bride, MyWedding.com, Bayside Bride, Borrowed & Bleu, etc. Did you know Ottawa has their own wedding blog too? It's called Satin and Snowflakes! Instead of e-mailing each blog individually, entailing lots of uploads and written letters, you upload everything one and then tell Two Bright Lights who you would like to submit to! The blogs then look at your album, if they like it, they already have all of the information they need to go ahead with a publication.

I was unsure about joining before because there is only a short time free trial, then after that requires a monthly or yearly fee. I thought that I did not have good enough imagery to even be thought about for publication, but I have been doing some research and even the smallest of photography sessions are being published!

So here I go, giving it a whirl. I am currently submitting a few different albums involving newborns, babies, families, and weddings - so wish me luck and hope I get my first publication!

Brides - sound fun and luxuriously famous to be published on these high-end blogs? It is! Did I mention sometimes they are sometimes published in physical magazines too?! E-mail me about photographing your wedding and I'll try super hard to get you on one of them! ;)

family session | the tans

5/27/2013

Yesterday, I had the honour of meeting this adorable little family at Watson's Mill in Manotick. Jennifer purchased the LivingSocial deal to do a family session with husband, Mark, and little boy, Andrew. Not a minute before, Jen had told me, "he will be shy for a short while but will open up really soon as he starts to know you." After a few quiet moments of 'what is that black *clicking* square, Andrew was running up to me to see what this camera object was. This little bundle of energy and curiosity just wanted to run around and explore the entire session.

It was hard to get little giggles like this from Andrew.

Little Andrew did not want to sit still for very long!

The rocks were intriguing, so many things to put in his mouth (or not)!
Hanging upside-down with mommy definitely got some smiles out of him.

family session | the mikhaels

5/25/2013

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to meet this adorable family. From the moment I arrived, it seemed as if the Mikhaels were just laughing and smiling at each other the whole time. Not was there one fighting moment, it seemed like all of the siblings got along really well. Although being an always-on-the-go family, I managed to squeeze out these cute photos of them all. Enjoy! Check out more of their images here.

First off, how cute is this cat?!

My favourite family shot from the session :)

I adore this shot of all of the ladies in the family!
