Ottawa Wedding Awards 2016
5/03/2016
Ahhh! This blog has been too quiet for too long!! It's been off-season, so I haven't had much to shoot, but I should still be here! I get writers block so bad and don't know what to say, or sometimes don't think people even bother to read so I fall short. I am also in the process of redesigning a new blog and website, so this will be moving to a much prettier space!
Two weeks ago, I attended the 3rd annual Ottawa Wedding Awards. Falling short of the hardware again this year, it is always such a great opportunity to mingle with all of the other vendors that we all work with so often, yet rarely get to see! Hair done myself, makeup by my new lovely friend, Josée, and dress is one of the lovely Arroh and Bow borrowed from The Handmade Bride!
After years of hard work, my friend Catalina of my partner, MDRN Photobooth Co. finally took an award home! Enjoy these cell phone shots from our lovely night, and a few great shots at the end by the event's photographer, S+C Photography!

Shoot & Share Photo Contest
3/29/2016
As you may have seen on my Facebook page the last couple of weeks, the annual Shoot & Share contest has been going on. It's always so intriguing (and addicting) to go through the voting process and looking at such beautiful photos as they get narrowed down better and better every week! |
The top 100 photos were released on Friday, and I am honoured to say I have 8 images that placed that high!! So excited to see the remainder of my photos' rankings which will be released tonight!! Makes me even more excited to see what's in store for this wedding season and enter some brand new couples into this next year!!
Lisa walking down the aisle with dad was 3,155th of 11,652 images in the "Just The Bride" category. |
Lisa's bouquet places 1,488th of 6,074 Cake, Flowers & Decor shots |
Genny & Doug's winter engagement made 3,048th of 21,049 engagement photos |
Love Genny's halo engagement ring? So did the voters as it hit 1,301st out of all 6,514 ring shots! |
Lisa + Brennan hit the ranks again becoming 898th out of 7,918 photos in the Emotion & Excitement category! |
So excited Amanda's gold halo was 567th among 6,514 ring photos! |
Brennan's slick leather shoes were 336th of 5,385 photos in the All Dressed Up category. |
Last but certainly not least, Bethany's beauty ranks 437th out of 6,514 ring shots! |
Tuesdays Together Ottawa
3/08/2016
I had been following along with the Rising Tide Society for a while now, hoping that a Tuesdays Together group would soon come to Ottawa. I pondered developing the group myself, becoming a leader, but I didn't have the courage; although I wish I did. Someone else did though, not long after I abandoned the idea. Tracey has courage.
Tuesdays Together and the Rising Tide Society is a community of wedding creatives, entrepreneurs, who developed the new stigma of "community over competition." Many who aren't in our industry aren't aware of how cut-throat it often is, comparing yourself to others and putting down "your competitors" because it will somehow raise you higher. Except it doesn't. Our motto is a rising ride raises all ships.
Tuesdays Together is about getting rid of that stigma, meeting together the second Tuesday of every month to discuss and help each other out with common business needs. Today marks Ottawa's second meeting ever. Even if we never accomplish anything, only my fellow solo-preneurs will know how I feel when I say it's just nice to chat with people. It gets so lonely working for and only with yourself!!
Can't wait to see where this group takes everyone! If you are a wedding industry creative in Ottawa, definitely look into joining our group!

Ottawa Wedding Awards 2016
2/16/2016
It never seizes to amaze me with the amount of support I get for my business considering I'm still so relatively new to the wedding industry! I have been photographing weddings since 2012, but Nicole Amanda Photography is only officially 2 years old this year! Thank you so much for supporting me in my business thus far!
I'm so honoured to have been nominated for the Ottawa Wedding Awards yet again this year! I had the most amazing time the last 2 years at this gala, and it blows my mind how much local talent we have in the industry. To even be nominated for Ottawa's best wedding photographer is astounding. I'd be so grateful for your support in voting for this event, which runs through until February 26th.

Past, present & future couples - and even families from the start of my photography journey, thank you for the honour of trusting me with your big day. A vote and a share would mean the world! You also have the option to skip a category, it is not necessary to vote if you don't know anyone in the category. A great opportunity to support your other wedding vendors that are nominated!
Ashley + Jonathan
1/26/2016
From the moment I first started emailing Ashley, I could tell how fun a person she was, and how excited she was about the whole wedding planning process. I'm pretty sure I went off in a daze when she was telling me all of her ideas because it all just seemed so dreamy, not to mention finally checking Stonefields Heritage Farm off my bucket list!
Ashley and Jon balance each other out quite wonderfully. He's more quiet and she's excitable and giggly. But both so game to do whichever the other wanted to do for their session. I know their wedding will be so outdoorsy him yet prettily her. June can't come soon enough!
