portfolio | single image or triptych?

3/21/2013

Okay, so I had a little too much fun on my shoot with Tracy. These images are now like children. I love the layout and a lot of people like the layout as well, but some say the larger image is stronger on it's own.

To layout or not to layout?

And now for the lovely Stacey Pitre as Rapunzel. Another fast and fun shoot, where luckily my model did not freeze in the snow! Just for everyone's information, I now know that a previous model, Kim Pearson's closet is an endless costume supply!

I'd love to thank the lovely Cat Hartigan for coming out a second time. I guess I'm lucky that my friends enjoy dressing up as princesses so much! We went out into the lovely Greenbelt of Ottawa to get some lovely shots. I didn't think it would be as pretty as it was with all of the snow, but it turned out wonderful.

And as I said last time, check out Cat's website (she's a graphic designer!) to check out her work and homemade cards for any occasion! She does customs too.

Today was a double shot for photo shoots! And probably wrapping up my photo shoots as an Algonquin College Photography student. Bittersweet.

Check out my reshoot of Pocahontas Cat and new to the site, Rapunzel Stacey on the blog tonight!

Summer is coming! Still looking for a wedding photographer? Since I haven't been blogging since I started photographing weddings, I thought I would share a summary of my work! Also displayed are some of my other sessions.

If you are looking, or know someone looking for an engagement or wedding session (or anything else!). Feel free to e-mail me at info@nicolesalterphotography.ca for a quote! I'm excited to get back into it!

engaged | kyle & lisa - by intuition photo

3/17/2013

This one is a little delayed but I'm on a blogging roll right now - so I felt the need to share this beautiful image with y'all! As well as working with Laura Kelly Photography, I have found the wonderful Janine Bell of Intuition Photography to do some of my college placement hours with.

This was my first time meeting Janine; aiding with the lovely engagement shoot of adorable couple Kyle & Lisa! These cuties are getting married in the Dominican Republic in a couple of months, talk about jealous! Check out Intuition's full blog post on them here.

personal | sleigh ride & sugar bush date

I think I will stray aside from photography for a blog post to talk about my amusing morning! I have this obsession with Livingsocial and Groupon - so one day I saw a 'Sleigh Ride thought he Sugar Bush' deal from Pinto Valley Ranch. I was familiar with this stable as I had been there a few times when I was younger to ride ponies in the ring.

I figured as it was $6 each, why not? Cute, cheap date! He loves the winter, I love horses, and we were raised to adore maple syrup. Perfect. We were pulled to the tapped trees, tasted 'sugar water,' then went back to the sugar shack to see where they boiled the syrup - and there they gave us maple taffy on snow! Before and after we adored the animals at the farm - including this cat who just wanted to live life cuddling.

I think my man has been taken by another woman.

Mmmm, maple taffy!

portfolio | self-directed sneak peek

A double photography shoot today, lots accomplished. One again, my lovely Tracy Jeffery Waugh modelling for me! This time for Princess Merida from the movie, Brave. I felt stupid after asking around for a bow, that I never asked my model. I should have just assumed. She is wilderness girl, of course!

Wig from Costume Chik, clothing by Heather Erven.
I think it was this shot that I was stupid to subconsciously walk in front of her like this....

"How do you want me to pose?" "I don't! You're a natural model!"

How does one look so sexy with a bow?

This might be a final diptych? Too many cute shots to choose from.

portfolio | creative ad sneak peek

Yesterday I photographed this lovely lady on a pile of mattresses. Thanks to Amy Neal for lending me her time as the beautiful Aurora for my creative ad! I will be showcasing Kingsdown's Sleeping Beauty mattress. Another project for me to start editing and you shall see the final product soon :)
